Mid-summer Update

The past two months since my last update have whirled by!

The kids finished up their school years, and jumped right into the summer fun at the Y. Felix and Nick were quite busy with baseball. Nick decided to be a head coach this summer, which made things a bit more hectic than usual, with practices and weather cancellations. We've also had the fun of a wedding, a carnival downtown, birthday parties and a Rafters game. Lots of storms, mosquito bites, and typical tantrums as well. Whew!

Felix turned 8 today! He had his birthday party last weekend: a sleepover with three of his friends. Overall, the kids enjoyed it, but I don't think we'll be having any more sleepovers for a while. Felix wasn't happy about his friends messing with his toys. He'll learn. Or not.

Nick and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary with a trip down to Chicago, where we stayed downtown and went to see Hamilton! I had been waiting for eight months since I purchased the tickets. Sooooo good! It was a brief respite, one we should do more often.
We had a very nice 4th of July weekend. Iris nearly got stormed out of a friends birthday party on the 1st, but managed to enjoy herself. We met up with friends for a floating island party at Sunset Lake on the 2nd and a cookout afterward at their house. I took the day off and the kids to see Cars 3 on the 3rd while Nick was at work. On the 4th, we went to the Rafters game with my parents, and Felix was thoroughly engrossed in the big win. :o)

We've got quite a few fun things lined up for the next month and a half. We're very excited about them all! Stay tuned...

Awesome things: American Gods (watched all episodes twice already!), this past season of Doctor Who, the new MST3K episodes, The Kingkiller Chronicle (since I finished the first and second book this spring)

Felix: 8 yrs & Iris: 4.5 yrs

First Half of 2026

It's been a whirlwind of a summer so far, so much so that I forgot to whip up this blog post until now.  2026 has been good to us so far...
